We are excited to introduce Detego 2026 R2, a release focused on helping investigators uncover critical evidence faster, reduce the time spent searching large datasets, and accelerate both field- and laboratory-based investigations.

At the heart of this release is Semantic Text Search, a powerful new capability in Detego Analyse AI+ that enables investigators to find evidence based on meaning, context, and sentiment rather than relying solely on exact keyword matches. By understanding the intent behind a search, investigators can rapidly uncover relevant chats, emails, documents, and other evidence, even when alternative wording, commonly used slang terms, or indirect language is used.

Detego 2026 R2 also introduces YARA-based scanning, helping investigators rapidly identify malware, suspicious files, indicators of compromise, and other potentially malicious artefacts hidden within digital evidence. By automatically scanning evidence against custom YARA rules, investigators can quickly prioritise high-risk content and focus analysis on the most relevant data.

To help investigators uncover valuable information that can be overlooked, this release introduces a new Document Metadata Extractor. Metadata from supported evidence types, including PDF, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel files, is automatically extracted, indexed, and made searchable, helping investigators identify authorship information, document properties, and creation or modification details that can support attribution, timeline analysis, and evidential review.

Support for modern evidence sources continues to expand through the addition of Windows 11 Search Database parsing. This enhancement enables investigators to extract a broader range of artefacts from Windows 11 systems, including indexed files, browser history, and application activity data, providing deeper visibility into user activity and investigative leads.

Detego 2026 R2 also delivers significant enhancements to Detego Field. Investigators can now extract individual encrypted partitions, including those protected by BitLocker, without acquiring the entire physical disk. This capability helps reduce acquisition times, focus effort on the most relevant evidence, and improve operational efficiency when dealing with encrypted devices.

For global investigative and forensic teams, Detego 2026 R2 introduces Brazilian Portuguese localisation across the platform. This enhancement builds on Detego’s existing localisations, which already include German, French, Italian, Swedish, Spanish, Japanese, and Arabic.
