The Role

We are seeking a motivated and technically curious Junior DevOps Engineer to join our engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a software development background who is eager to build expertise in DevOps practices, CI/CD automation, and cloud infrastructure. You will work alongside experienced engineers to support the delivery pipeline for our digital forensics platform and develop your skills in a real-world, security-focused environment.

Principais responsabilidades:

Working under the guidance of senior engineers, the Junior DevOps Engineer will support the successful deployment of integrated and stand-alone releases. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Assist in the design, implementation, and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines using Git and Bitbucket Pipelines.
  • Support development teams to ensure seamless integration and deployment of applications.
  • Contribute to build systems and strategies that improve productivity and efficiency across the engineering function.
  • Help automate infrastructure provisioning and management using tools such as Docker, AWS, and Azure.
  • Write and maintain PowerShell scripts for automation and configuration management tasks.
  • Assist with monitoring and troubleshooting application performance and infrastructure issues.
  • Support adherence to security and compliance best practices throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging DevOps technologies, applying learning to continuous improvement.

 

O que procuramos:

We are looking for candidates with a foundational background in software development and a genuine interest in DevOps. The following attributes are required:

  • Some hands-on experience in software development, with a basic understanding of build systems and processes.
  • Familiarity with configuration management for applications and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Working knowledge of Git for source control; exposure to Bitbucket Pipelines is advantageous.
  • Basic familiarity with PowerShell, Bash, and Python.
  • Awareness of containerisation technologies such as Docker.
  • Some exposure to cloud platforms (AWS or Azure), with some Identity and Access Management (IAM) experience.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code e.g. Terraform, Tofu, CloudFormation.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset and attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills with a collaborative, team-first approach.
  • Experience with maintaining documentation e.g. for runbooks, processes, and SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).

 

Preferred Qualifications:

The following are not essential but would strengthen your application:

  • Academic or vocational qualifications in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Exposure to other CI/CD tools or platforms (e.g. GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps).
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and working in sprint-based teams.
  • Basic understanding of the Release and Deployment Management lifecycle and CI/CD methodology.
  • Awareness of web-based front-end applications and server-side deployments.
  • Any experience with cross-platform development or resolving integration issues.
  • Interest in security-focused software and digital forensics tooling.
