The Role:

Detego Global is seeking an experienced Software Architect to join our growing engineering team. We are looking for a lead developer ready to transition into a Software Architect role, responsible for defining technical strategy, architectural standards, and guiding engineering teams in delivering robust, scalable solutions.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in software development, strong expertise in .NET and C#, and a passion for shaping the technical direction of mission-critical software with real-world impact across global security organisations. You will work closely with the Chief Architect and senior leadership to establish architectural patterns, evaluate emerging technologies, and ensure our products are built on solid technical foundations.

This role combines deep technical expertise with strategic thinking and mentorship and offers significant growth potential. Strong communication skills, technical leadership, and a collaborative approach are essential.

Based in a hybrid environment, with up to four days working remotely and at least one day per week in our Horsham office, this role provides the opportunity to lead architectural initiatives on highly rewarding projects while helping shape the company’s technical future.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and maintain software architecture for current and future products, ensuring scalability, security, and maintainability.
  • Develop a deep understanding of our products and codebases to actively contribute beyond a purely architectural level.
  • Create and maintain Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) documenting key technical decisions and their rationale.
  • Evaluate and recommend technologies, frameworks, and tools aligned with business goals and technical strategy.
  • Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development teams while promoting best practices and coding standards.
  • Design system integrations, APIs, and data architectures that support modularity and interoperability.
  • Conduct architectural and code reviews to ensure alignment with established standards and patterns.
  • Identify and address technical debt, performance bottlenecks, and security vulnerabilities.
  • Lead proof-of-concept initiatives to validate architectural approaches and emerging technologies.
  • Work closely with DevOps and infrastructure teams to support deployment and operational requirements.
  • Stay current with industry trends, architectural patterns, and emerging technologies.
  • Support hiring and team-building initiatives through candidate evaluation and technical guidance.


What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience as a Lead Developer or Senior Developer, with 5+ years in software development.
  • Strong expertise in .NET development, C# and Visual Studio.
  • Experience developing .NET-based web services and distributed systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement scalable, maintainable software architectures.
  • Experience with architectural patterns, including microservices, event-driven, and layered architectures.
  • Strong understanding of software design principles such as SOLID, DRY, and separation of concerns.
  • Proficiency with the Blazor framework and modern web technologies.
  • Experience with HTML, CSS and frontend architectural considerations.
  • Expert knowledge of Git and version control strategies.
  • Experience implementing automated testing strategies, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
  • Strong documentation skills and the ability to create clear technical specifications and Architecture Decision Records.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience mentoring developers and providing technical leadership.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to balance technical excellence with pragmatic delivery.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with WPF (Windows Presentation Foundation).
  • Experience with the latest .NET Core releases and migration strategies.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms such as Azure and AWS, and cloud-native architectures.
  • Experience with containerisation technologies including Docker and Kubernetes, as well as CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with security architecture principles and threat modelling.
  • Experience within the cybersecurity, digital forensics, or defence technology sectors.
  • Understanding of database design and data architecture patterns.
  • Experience with API design and RESTful or GraphQL architectures.
  • Knowledge of performance optimisation and scalability patterns.
  • Formal architecture training or certifications, such as TOGAF or AWS/Azure Architect certifications.

  • Evaluate emerging technologies and lead proof-of-concept initiatives.
  • Work with DevOps and infrastructure teams to support deployment and operational requirements.
  • Identify and address technical debt, performance issues, and security considerations.
